We started off from Amy’s to go see her daughter and family, who live nearby near Atlanta. But first--more giant advertising figures near Atlanta!
Tonight on “Giant Ad Figure Hospital”…
We spent some time watching our adorable grandniece Lydia play while chatting with their parents Maggie and Cade, then began the trek north. We left Amy with her fam--happy trails!
We had lunch at Doug’s Place, a rustic place with farm implements on the walls. Kathy and I had the “Meat and 2 sides”, with chicken fried steak for her and fried chicken for me. Mindy had a club sammich. It was good if not great.
It was mid-afternoon by this point, and we were still in the Atlanta area. So we made the call that we will stop mid-way for the night, rather than tough it out and get to Grove City very late. We're in no hurry.
Our map took us right by Corbin, KY--so we had to pay our respects to Col. Sanders and his original location.
The Colonel started with a motel and gas station—the chicken was the extra attraction.
A collab with DC Comics.
We wound up in Richmond, KY for the night, at an older hotel that was small but recently updated.
Final notes tomorrow.
